Little Free Library

With the help of my father-in-law’s carpentry skills, my husband and I installed a little free library in our neighborhood commons (aka, “Tiny Park”). These libraries are popping up all over Charlotte. The premise is that people can borrow and lend books as they please. There’s no real ‘check out’ procedure — it’s more on an unspoken honor system where you can give and take as you please. We put in a few books, but more have shown up as time has passed. You can see the library from our living room window and it has been fun watching different people stop by the library. Yesterday afternoon a young dreadlocked dad pushed his stroller right up, crouched, and read three books to his baby. It was sweet.
