Humans of New York

How am I only just now hearing about this blog? Humans of New York, affectionately referred to as HONY, is Brad Stanton’s photography project that he began in 2010 after losing his job in the financial sector. The premise of the blog is simple: Stanton walks around New York City taking photos of strangers. He captures snippets of their stories along the way as well. I love it for a few reasons: the photography is good, the subjects are interesting, and it is not pretentious in the least — it’s sincere: what you see is what you get.

I stumbled upon a copy of his new book at the library and stayed up hours past my bedtime flipping through the beautiful photographs.
